A bicycle pedal with a "anti -slip" deployment of patented Sandblock® material, a durable polypropylene ashuis and cage, specially designed for use on electric bicycles. Can also be used on city, trekking and hybrid bikes.
- The "lightweight" ball bearing system gives a significant saving in weight and height
- The pedals are each provided on two sides with integrated approved reflectors and a closed lower system
- "2 components pedal", which consists of:
- a black polypropylene ashuis and cage (from one piece)
- The extra large "anti-slip" deployment in the cage is made of a gray tpe (thermo-plastic elastomer).
- Adjustable and lightweight ball bearing system, according to the "bullet & cone" principle, on both sides
- With 14 x 3/32 "Bulleted bullets on both sides
- Boron Staal, hardened by a heat treatment to 75hra (+/- 3)
- With 9/16 "- 20 TPI wire
- Integrated in the cage of the pedal
- Approved according to BS, JIS, TPP, as well as according to the German STVZO standards

Sandblock® is the official logo registered by Marwi of a patented composition of materials that forms a wear-resistant perfect anti-slip for pedals. The anti-slip effect of the material is guaranteed, even when it is wet or smeared with oil or fat. This anti-slip deployment cannot be separated from the pedal by not a special, water-resistant technology.
The Union Sandblock® pedals have an extra large anti-slip deployment (so more direct contact with the cyclist's shoe) and are specially designed for the application on e-bikes.
The benefits of this high-quality Sandblock® anti-slip are:
- A very good anti-slip function, much better than that of the usual TPR (rubber) deployment
- Important more wear resistance compared to that of the usual TPR (rubber) deployment
- The anti-slip function remains optimal, even when the surface of the material is wet or smeared with oil or fat
The Sandblock® anti-slip surfaces are very durable, water-resistant and firmly connected to the robust polypropylene cage of the pedal through a new patented technology. Compared to the self -adhesive sandpaper versions of pedals that are used, this strong connection is waterproof and not to separate or remove the pedal.
Technical details and test results:
- Various laboratory tests prove that the Sandblock® cannot be separated or removed from the pedal cage, not even when tools are used for this
- The anti-slip function of the Sandblock® has much better performance than the standard anti-slip material made from sandpaper
- An anti-slip Durability test shows that with a load of 30 kg and at 10,000 cycles, the material only wears 0.25 mm
- With a deployment of standard sandpaper, this already shows wear traces after 20 cycles. Sandblock® does not do this
- The use of standard sandpaper can easily be separated from the polypropylene cage from the pedal. This does not happen at Sandblock®
By applying the Sandblock® material instead of TPR or standard sandpaper, with these Union pedals an even higher degree of safety for the cyclist is achieved in all weather conditions.
